Look over our "Moving Checklist." It may just remind you of a few things you need to get done before you move.
Give Sooner Moving a call as soon as you know the details of your move. This way we can work together with you to come up with a plan that fits best within your needs and budget.
Designate one dresser for essential items. One drawer for a change of clothing for everyone in your household. Another for sheets and towels, and yet another for your personal hygiene items, paper towels, toilet paper and the like. This way you won't have to rummage through boxes the first night in your new home.
Thoroughly clean and dry the inside of your refrigerator. Afterwards, try putting a handful of coffee grounds, charcoal or baking soda in a nylon stocking and place it in a crisper to keep the interior smelling fresh. The process can also help your washing machine as well.
If you are packing yourself, remember to pack heavy items in small boxes and lighter items in larger boxes.
Before we leave for your new residence, make sure we have a phone number and possibly even an alternate number, just in case we encounter any issues along the way, (not that we ever get lost).
Consider taking items that you consider irreplaceable , such as custom jewelry, cash and photos with you.
Plates should be packed vertically, rather than flat and stacked. They are much less likely to get broken this way.
Remove light bulbs from their sockets before packing lamps. Shades should also be removed and packed in a separate box all to themselves due to how easily damaged they are.
Keep your pet(s) away from all the activity on moving day by arranging for a friend to watch them at their house. This will make their life; and the life of your movers less-stressful.
When moving plants in your car, do not to let the foliage rest against the windows, as it can cause scorching of the leaves.
If budget is a concern, check out Tim's blog, "How to Save Money When Hiring a Professional Moving Company." It is chock full of great advice to help you do just that... save money!
We would love to handle all the packing, loading / unloading and moving so you don't have to. That way you can sit back and relax, and look forward to all the new opportunities, friends and experiences that are part of virtually every move.
